Peter Jaques
Oakland-based clarinetist & trumpeter Peter Jaques melds traditional Balkan Rom & Turkish styles with his own deeply soulful approach.
He directs Brass Menažeri Balkan Brass Band, frequent Beats Antique collaborator & winner of the SF Weekly’s “Best International Band” award. Brass Menazeri has also recently begun a groundbreaking collaboration with underground hip hop legend Mr. Lif, which will launch in fall of 2011.
Peter also performs in the San Francisco area (and beyond) with Rumen Sali Shopov’s Orkestar Sali; Stellamara, a Middle-eastern/Balkan/world fusion ensemble led by Sonja Drakulich; and the Gonifs klezmer band.
