BEATS ANTIQUE, an oakland based group featuring ZOE JAKES, DAVID SATORI, AND SIDECAR TOMMY, have stumbled down the rabbit hole and emerged anew on the other side. COLLIDE is a product of that absurd adventure, forging a curious alliance between middle eastern traditions and potent west coast circus, underground hip hop, breakbeat brass band, downtempo, glitch and dubstep. BEATS ANTIQUE'S second album has brought the paradox of electro-acoustic music into the future.

Here we are, kids. We are dizzy from all the zig-zag traveling insanity that was the spring of 2010. You are all amazing, every last one of you, and we are coming to discover…that’s alot of freakin people!  LIGHTNING IN A BOTTLE, brought to you by THE DO LAB, was insane…we blew a hole through our own minds with an epic finale that included well-dressed animal safari on a floating island with YOU as the sea, and a unicorn with a defiant expression of triumph right at the perfect moment. We even brought a ten foot tall spaceman onstage with his worshipping animal friends at HIGH SIERRA MUSIC FESTIVAL. BIG BOUNCE at the town of belden, now that’s where things got stoopid! David in drag with 3 crazy horse ladies booty dancing to some serious SISSY BOUNCE remixes, you could actually hear the record scratch as our confused fans did a double take, then TOTALLY FREAKED OUT!!!!

We partied renegade-style at the epic PRICELESS festival, playing a surprise set for fans and friends, as well doing some serious surprise partying with the hot babes SHAWNA and PHOEBE of FIVE and DIAMOND. Not to forget about our Colorado kids, we high-tailed it to SONIC BLOOM and after many issues and hours with airline nastiness we slid in by the skin of our teeth, drums, costumes and assorted musical instruments (minus a turkish banjo which didn’t catch the plane) landing perfectly in their places, right on time.

Louieville…we love you and your sticky sweaty insanity you call home. Zoe’s face practically melted off mid-show, david danced barefoot, and Tommy swung those sticks like hell through our first show in Kentucky. We will definitely be back! And New York…you surprised the shit outta us. really:

1.Le Poisson Rouge was clean (a Clean NY venue…that’s weird)

2. 400 freaking people came out!

3. 400 freaking people came out!

but more surprises were in store for us. CAMP BISCO was the most unexpected and wonderful surprise…you kids are so nice and jeez you melted our hearts. We could get used to it over here on the east coast. Our set started with a rather small but nice sized group, but throughout our set we watched with amazement as more and more of you kept coming from all directions until it was packed with dancing kids freaking out…we didn’t even know we had fans in upstate NY. Turns out we’ve got alot of them, and seems like we made some seriously awesome new ones!

And hanging out backstage with our buddy Bassnectar, Elliot, and the ever jolly Trevor was good times. Bassnectar schooled us later that night with a set that ripped our brains out and womped us till we almost passed out. Apparently this guy is like a fine wine…gets better with age, dontcha think? Oh, and Major Lazer and gang are freaks…we mean that in the best possible way.
